The NBA Canada Series, the league's program of preseason games in Canadian cities outside Toronto, was officially launched in 2012. Between 2012 and 2025 it visited Montreal, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Ottawa, but never Quebec City. The October 3 game therefore made the capital the seventh Canadian host city of the series and gave the province of Quebec its NBA game for 2026, at a time when Montreal was not on the schedule.
It was also the first preseason game of the Raptors' 2026 campaign, which gave the night a real "opening" feel. For local fans, used to watching the NBA on television or travelling to Montreal or Toronto, it was a rare chance to see the league at home.
Miami won 129-105, a 24-point margin. As always in the preseason, the score should be read with perspective: teams use these games to test lineups, give minutes to newcomers and get back into rhythm after the summer, and the result does not count in the standings. For the Raptors, the night was the first step of a preseason that continues in Vancouver a week later.
We do not publish individual statistics on this page, since our focus is on the event and on practical information for fans. For the box score, refer to the NBA's official channels.
Tickets were sold in two stages. Fans who registered on nbacanadagames.com received access to an exclusive presale on Tuesday, August 18 or Wednesday, August 19, 2026. The general sale opened on Thursday, August 20. The NBA did not publish face-value prices; those were set by the venue's official box office.
As an indicative snapshot of the resale market on game day, October 3, 2026, there were 53 listings priced from about €63 to €1,020 per ticket, depending on the category. These figures are neither official nor guaranteed, but they give an idea of the range for a first NBA game in the city.
The game was played at the Videotron Centre, an arena opened in 2015 in the ExpoCité area of the Limoilou district, with about 18,000 seats in hockey configuration. It is served by RTC buses and is about ten minutes by car from Old Quebec. For any future NBA game, the same advice applies: take the bus if you can, arrive early for security and check the bag policy.
For Quebec City, the game was proof that the capital can host an NBA event in a modern arena, in front of an enthusiastic local crowd. For the NBA, it was a test of a new Canadian market, one more step in a series that likes to explore beyond its usual stops. Whether that test leads to a quick return is now the big question, and the answer will come from the league's 2027 preseason announcement.
The 2026 NBA Canada Series has a second and final stop. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. Pacific (6:30 p.m. Eastern), the Raptors play the LA Clippers at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Tickets are still available. Everything is on our NBA Vancouver 2026 page.
The Raptors then host the New York Knicks in Toronto on October 13, play in New York on October 15 and in Detroit on October 16, before opening the regular season against the Chicago Bulls on October 21, 2026. See the October 2026 NBA Canada schedule and our Toronto Raptors page.
As of October 4, 2026, nothing has been announced for 2027: no date, no city, no matchup. The NBA usually publishes its preseason schedule in the summer, so the 2027-28 calendar would generally be expected around August 2027.
Could Quebec City host again? It is possible. A successful first game in a new market can encourage a quick return. But the NBA also rotates cities: Montreal, which hosted in 2018, 2022, 2023 and 2024 but not in 2026, could be in line for a comeback, and Vancouver has been a near-regular stop. These are trends, not announcements. We cover every scenario on our NBA Quebec City 2027 page, our NBA Canada Series 2027 guide, our NBA Montreal 2027 page and our NBA Vancouver 2027 page.
