THE NBA IN MONTRÉAL

Preseason games, the Bell Centre guide, ticket tips and the city that produces some of Canada's best basketball talent.

Update — October 4, 2026

No NBA game in Montreal in 2026

There is no NBA game in Montreal this year. The last one was played on October 6, 2024, when the Toronto Raptors beat the Washington Wizards 125-98 at the Bell Centre. In 2026, the NBA Canada Series went to Quebec City instead (Miami Heat 129-105 Raptors on October 3, see the recap) and to Vancouver on October 10 (Raptors vs LA Clippers).

Will Montreal get its game back in 2027? Nothing has been announced yet. Follow our NBA Montreal 2027 page and sign up to be alerted the moment a return is confirmed.

The NBA in Montréal

Montréal does not have its own NBA franchise, but it is one of Canada's most passionate basketball cities — and the NBA comes to town for preseason games as part of the NBA Canada Series. The Toronto Raptors, Canada's only NBA team, regularly stage exhibition games at the Bell Centre against fellow NBA franchises, giving Québec fans a chance to see the world's best players up close.

These preseason games sell out fast: Montréal is a hockey town at heart, but it turns out in force whenever the NBA visits. Set an alert below to be the first to know when the next NBA game in Montréal is confirmed.

Bell Centre — home of the NBA in Montréal

The Bell Centre (Centre Bell) in downtown Montréal is the home of the NHL's Canadiens and the city's main arena for major events. For basketball it seats roughly 21,000, making it one of the largest venues on any NBA preseason tour.

Getting there is easy: the arena sits above the Lucien-L'Allier and Bonaventure Métro stations and is a short walk from downtown hotels, Gare Centrale and the Quartier des Spectacles. Arrive 45–60 minutes before tip-off to clear security and soak up the atmosphere.

NBA Canada Series & preseason

The NBA Canada Series brings regular-season-quality matchups to Canadian cities outside Toronto each autumn. Preseason games are typically played in late September and early October, just before the regular season tips off. For Montréal, that usually means the Raptors facing a marquee opponent in a one-off exhibition.

Montréal: a basketball talent factory

Few cities produce NBA talent like Montréal. The Québec metropolis and its suburbs have sent a remarkable wave of players to the league, including Luguentz Dort, Bennedict Mathurin (Montréal-Nord), Chris Boucher and Khem Birch. That homegrown pipeline is a big part of why NBA games in Montréal feel like a homecoming.
